Okay okay okay…I know that it is Thanksgiving and that in less than eight hours most of America will either be a) on the couch in a food coma or b) standing in line outside Wal-Mart, Target or Kohls, waiting to bust some serious doors.
But I’d like to introduce option c: fabric pumpkins!
Or just any craft in general. But since I cannot stand to wait another 365 days to show you these lil’ plump wonders of fabric, you’re getting a Thanksgiving craft on Thanksgiving day.
You can thank me later. :)
I actually made these three weeks ago during the Hurricane Sandy madness, as we were stuck indoors for 48 hours. It was dark, rainy and windy – which to me meant that I could stay in my pajamas all day, eat cereal for every meal, watch an entire season of Sex and the City and pretty much drive Matt insane. The stir craziness set in a little early, which resulted in me bouncing around our box of an apartment in pink pajama pants and my new black boots, spontaneously breaking out in various Spice Girls songs.
Call it Hurricane Anne Marie.
Anyways, once I finally exhausted myself (and Matt) I sat down with browsed around my favorite blogs and craft websites. Just as Matt thought I had finally crashed, I saw these little pumpkins with a step-by-step photo tutorial. I screamed, “OH MY GOSH,” threw the computer to Matt, jumped up and ran to my sewing machine. (Still in pink pajama pants and black boots, obvi.)
And ta-daaaaaa! A few hours later, our apartment was covered in these lil’ guys. And fabric scraps, sewing needles, embroidery fabric, polyester filling, etc.
Not that I noticed. With my arms filled with fabric pumpkins and my black boots thrown to the floor, I made a line-drive into the couch, my stir craziness finally beating me to a pulp. The storm had passed, the sun was peeking out from the clouds and work/reality was waiting for us the following morning.
And for that, Matt gives thanks.
I hope everyone has most WONDERFUL Thanksgiving, surrounded by their favorite people and their favorite foods. I am so incredibly thankful for the amazing people in my life and all the blessings and opportunities life has granted me. From the little things like being able to wiggle my toes every morning to the big things like having two big, loving families I can call my own, (filled with a bunch of crazy little kids and even crazier adults) life is just so, so good.
And it is even better when you are cheers-ing with apple cider sangria, which I need to get a’mixing… :)

Love, love, love, these pumpkins. You are so crafty! Emma loves the sock snowman you gave us last year. She loves pulling the hat off and squishing it.
