“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
— African proverb
Welcome to my new series of motivational/inspirational/educational/life-altering quotes! I always find myself stumbling on great quotes and thinking, “I need to remember that” or “I should tell myself that every day.” Then, ten minutes pass and I totally forgot where I even read the quote, let alone what it was.
So, assuming the wheels in your head are also turning too fast for their own good, I’ve decided to share a favorite quote, saying, lyric, proverb, etc. here every week, preferably on Monday mornings. I hope that they help you shine a new light on the week ahead, or at least give you something to ponder while drinking your first, second, or third cup of coffee. :)
About this quote – I just came across this one yesterday, and it struck me pretty hard. I have always been a total dreamer, always wanting to do this, do that, go there, see that. Because of my constant restlessness, there have been times when I have looked at my life and have been frustrated at the pace it is moving towards my all 734,385 of my dreams. (I need to see the pyramids! Swim in the Dead Sea! Work on a vineyard in Tuscany! All before I need to even think about having babies!) But when I think about the many reasons I haven’t dropped everything and booked a one-way flight across the world, I realize it is because I choose to share my life every day with those I love. I don’t want to go through the journey of life alone, I want to go through it together. And although this may mean that you won’t see me riding an elephant near the Taj Mahal anytime soon, I know that my dreams are being realized, every day, and that I’m going farther than I know because I’m going with the ones I love.
And I think we all need to sit back and realize that. It will make the journey that much, much more enjoyable.
Have a wonderful Monday!
